When and how and why were you first introduced to or motivated to try yoga?
I’ve been practicing yoga since 2009, when a friend of mine invited me to join a group of ladies at a local studio for yoga and tea sessions. At the time I was very curious and intrigued about yoga, and naturally fell in love with it from the first class.
What benefits have you gotten from your yoga practice?
Yoga was a start of my self-care process. It taught me to understand, learn and love my body and its needs.
From day one I saw immediate physical changes - back pain relief, increased flexibility, and energy, better sleep. Regular stretching helped with pasture and sore muscles. I also noticed mental health benefits - better moods, stress and anxiety management, mental clarity and calmness, the list goes on. And last but not least is a connection with a supportive local community.
Why did you become a member at Radiant Lotus Yoga?
I enjoy being a part of this community and support local businesses. I was a member of Sapphire Yoga for 5 years and after they closed their doors in January of 2020, I knew when the studio reopens I’ll go back in a heartbeat.
What inspires or motivates you to show up on your mat these days?
Self-love, self-care, great way to recharge my batteries and fill up my own cup first so I can replenish my mental, emotional, physical energy and be better, love better, give more, be happy.
Yoga does that for me.
Do you have a favorite quote?
“You are greater than you know”
- Mother Teresa
Do you have a favorite yoga pose? If so, what makes it so great?
Tree Pose! To me it’s a feel-good fun pose that allows a lot of creativity and imagination choosing what kind of tree I want to be today, while working on balance, opening hips, stretching inner things, strengthening the legs and core… (all my favorite things) and then do it all again on the other side!
