We want you to have the best experience possible, so help us help you by following these steps when you arrive for your first class:
- We are inside the Sapphire Studios building at 202 South Century Avenue. It's a brown building across from Associated Bank. We have plenty of parking!
- Pull Hard - Our entry is a heavy door, and sometimes people even think it is locked because you've gotta pull pretty hard to open it. If you think it's locked - TRY AGAIN! If you are still struggling to open the door, you can try ringing the doorbell to the right of the door (we can't hear it in the studio, so if class has already started, we may not hear you), or you can text 608-213-7838 for assistance.
- We are downstairs - go around the front desk toward the stairway, and head on down!
- A note on accessiblity: We unfortunately are not wheelchair accessible, and are working on growing so that we can expand into a space that is accessible for all. Thanks for your patience. We won't thank you for understanding because we don't understand why commercial buildings aren't required to provide this either, but we are limited by access / cost of rent. As a disabled woman, I am upset by this myself, so if you are too, I totally understand. If you'd like a recommendation for a more accessible studio, I'd be happy to give some suggestions, and I have made our video library free for all, because I think quality, mindful yoga guidance should be made available to everyone!
- You can leave your things on the hooks, under the bench, or in the lockers down the hall (bring your own lock if desired). If you do bring any belongings into the studio, please be mindful of others, and keep things tucked within one foot of your mat, rather than spread out where they might prevent others from walking through or moving around their mats.
- Make sure to check in on the kiosk to the left of the studio doorway.
- Please enter the studio mindfully! The door can make some noise if you rush in, so please gently open and close the door, and try to be as quiet as you can if class is just starting. You are welcome to arrive late, but please do so mindfully so as not to disturb the energy in the room.
- If you're new to the studio, make sure to mention that to the teacher so they can properly welcome you into the space, and show you around.
- If you have any injuries or limitations, let the teacher know so they can support and accommodate your needs, and provide options that will benefit you.
- We have a variety of props to support your practice, including blocks, bolsters, straps, foam rollers, tennis balls, stretch bands, and tools for neck traction. Please help yourself, and ask the teacher if you're not sure how to use something!
- I always recommend practicing with AT LEAST two blocks and a strap, as you just never know what your body will need or be able to do each day, and it's always a good idea to have support so you can find your optimal alignment, rather than force your body into shapes that aren't beneficial for you.
- A blanket is a good idea if you have any knee issues, too!
- If you have any trouble laying flat on your back, grab a blanket and bolster for sure.
- Bathrooms are down the hall, and there are showers, too! Bring your own towel to shower before or after class as needed, but please leave the bathrooms tidy when you're done (dry floors, curtains closed, toilet seat down). Forget your towel? We have some to spare - just ask, but please don't make it a habit. We have limited laundry capacity. Thanks for understanding!
- Speaking of towels - there are a variety of linens on the shelf inside the studio:
- White square towels on the shelf are for you to use during practice to wipe sweat. PLEASE REMOVE MAKEUP BEFORE USING OUR TOWELS, OR BRING YOUR OWN. Even bleach won't fix towels with make up on them, so please help us reduce waste and only use our towels for sweat, not to clean your face.
- Additionally, if you are given a cotton ball with essential oils on it, please don't touch the towel with your cotton ball. Many essential oils will stain our towels permanently. Thanks for your mindfulness!
- White pillowcases are to create a barrier between your body and your bolster. Please help us keep the bolsters clean by using these pillowcases.
- When finished, place any linens / towels you use in the laundry basket near the entryway of the studio
